UPDATE ON 2022/23 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:

This year we received a total of five applications from the children of our staff. Like last year, the scholarship committee decided to support each student with a scholarship award, rather than give just one larger amount.  Thanks to many generous donations, we gave each student $500 to apply toward their school expenses. This amount will go quite far in Mexico. In the coming years, we will award as many scholarships as possible, based on the donations we have received. We held back a little bit of money this year to use as seed money for following years.

Tom Thomas loved scuba diving and the island of Cozumel, Mexico. He loved the tropical breeze, the crystal clear water and the kindness and generosity of the Cozumeleños. Tom did his scuba diving with Dive with Martin and over the years he became part of the Dive with Martin family. He was welcomed back with open arms each time he arrived on the island. The staff loved his smile, his kindness and the excitement he shared each time he got ready for a dive. 

Tom also valued education. The Thomas DWM Scholarship Fund has been established to honor Tom and to support the children of the Dive with Martin staff as they pursue a university education. 

The amount of money awarded each year will depend on the total fund amount and how many students apply for it. Each student can apply one time per year for the scholarship. Preference will be given to students who have not received the scholarship previously.

Tom Thomas amaba el buceo y la isla de Cozumel, México. Le encantaba la brisa tropical, el agua cristalina y la amabilidad y generosidad de los cozumeleños. Tom hizo su buceo con Dive with Martin y con los años se convirtió en parte de la familia Dive with Martin. Fue recibido de nuevo con los brazos abiertos cada vez que llegó a la isla. El personal amaba su sonrisa, su amabilidad y la emoción que compartía cada vez que se preparaba para buceo.

Tom también valoraba la educación. El Fondo de Becas Thomas DWM se ha establecido para honrar a Tom y para apoyar a los niños del buceo con el personal de Martin mientras persiguen una educación universitaria.

La cantidad de dinero otorgada cada año dependerá de la cantidad total del fondo y de cuántos estudiantes la soliciten. Cada estudiante puede solicitar una vez al año para la beca. Se dará preferencia a los estudiantes que no hayan recibido la beca previamente.
