Advanced Open Water Certification Course

The Advanced Open Water course is your next step to really work on your diving knowledge and skills.  The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You have the opportunity to try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your instructor.  We offer two different options for the Advanced Open Water Course.


Option 1: You can take the full course while your in Cozumel. The onsite course includes instruction for the five required certification dives, academic sessions, certification fees, and all equipment. 


Option 2: If you choose to take the PADI Advanced Open Water eLearning course before coming to Cozumel, then your course in Cozumel will consist of an academic review, the five required certification dives, certification fees and all equipment.


Required Dives:
The two required dives for Advanced Open Water are navigation and deep. The navigation dive is done from the shore near our dive shop. You will choose the other three certification dives from: AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, drift diving, multilevel and computer diving, peak performance buoyancy, underwater nature study, underwater photography (you bring your own camera), underwater videography (you bring your own video camera).


Duration of course: 2 half days + one afternoon dive done from the dive shop

Requirements

  • Minimum age:  12 years old
  • Open Water certification (or equivalent) 
  • Good physical condition (physician's approval not required, but recommended). Must complete the PADI Medical Release Statement


Required Course Materials:

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Crew-Pak (not included, can be purchased at a local dive shop, online or the Dive with Martin dive shop. Check with us before arrival to make sure we have it available) Each student is required to have their own manual.  
  • Or Proof of Completion of the PADI Advanced Open Water eLearning Program (cost of the PADI program is not included in the cost of the course)

Start Times: 7:30 am or 1:00 pm

Afternoon dives have a four diver minimum boat load for the boat to go out.

Considerations

If you are vacationing with other certified divers, all boat certification dives can be done from the same boat that your friends/family are on. 

Cancellations

Cancellation of all scuba courses must be made at least 14 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Otherwise, you will be charged in full for the course.
