Covid-19 Safety and Sanitation Protocol
Meeting the Boat
- We will continue to pick up at all of the hotel docks where we have always picked up.
- If you normally come to the shop to meet the boat you will go to our temporary shop at the Marina Fonatur instead. The boats will leave the marina at 7:30 am. Please be there by 7:15. We are requesting that divers go straight to the boat without stopping in at the dive shop. The shop at the marina is very small and a confined space. To limit close contact, you will take your equipment to the boat and you can turn in your paperwork and pay on the boat. After August 1, we will be back at the International Pier and you will meet the boat there.
On the Boats
- We will limit the number of divers on our small boats (31 foot boats) to 6-8 divers. This allows room for social distancing. The big boat will be limited to 10 divers.
- Bottles of water and packaged snacks will be served between dives on the boat. For now, we are not able to serve fresh fruit.
- We will not have open, communal buckets of water for rinsing masks and cameras.
Sanitation measures
- The shop will be sanitized throughout the day.
- The boat crew will completely clean and sanitize the boat prior to the trip.
- All divers must rinse their shoes on a sanitizing mat before getting on the boat and use hand sanitizer (provided) as soon as you get on the boat.
- There will be bottles of hand sanitizer on the boat.
- Divers and crew will be required to wear face masks while on the boat. Masks, bandanas or buffs are all acceptable face coverings. Please bring your own.
Dive Equipment
- If you are bringing your own equipment, please take it with you each day. For now, we will not be storing equipment. The shop at the marina is too small and we want to limit the mingling of divers’ equipment. Once we open up the larger shop after August 1, we will revisit this policy.
- If you are using our rental equipment you will be using the exact same gear every day. The gear will be sanitized each day according to current best practices and then put back on the boat for you for the next day. We recommend that you bring your own sanitary wipes if you would like to wipe down the mouthpiece of your regulator before use
